"Black Pot" of the week

Seven English councils have been accused of negligence for depositing money with Icelandic banks days before they went into administration last October. These authorities deposited nearly £33m despite warnings about their solvency. The Audit Commission said lessons had to be learnt.

Not least by The Audit Commission, which itself deposited £10m in the banks,
